Summary[]
While the Polies are spending time in the backyard, a huge thunderstorm arrives, ruining their plans. As the chairs that Percy and Polina are using return to their posts at the backyard table, Polina orders the table's umbrella to close while Percy orders the lawn polisher to take shelter in the garage. As the Polies head inside, they make preparations by having enough flashlights and fuses and that all the windows are properly closed. When Pappy finds Olie and Zowie hiding behind a scared TV set, he entertains the kids with stories about his childhood by first explaining what bots originally watched for entertainment in the old days. They begin acting like dinosaurs; the furniture find this amusing. The thunderstorm eventually causes a power outage, scaring everyone. Percy attempts to find a replacement fuse to restore the power. Pappy tells the kids how bots used to see in the dark while making silly faces with a flashlight. They are interrupted by Polina, her presence with the lightning and thunder startles them. After calming them down, she leaves to help Percy find the extra fuse. Pappy then explains how he originally looked for food before deciding that they should go into the kitchen. They find the objects frightened by the thunderstorm. After calming them down, they are able to get some food before using the bottom of the dining table as a cave. Around this time, Percy successfully restores the power and at the same time, the thunderstorm ends. They head outside to find the backyard wet. Pappy reveals that he never saw the sun up close in the old days as the Polies resume their outdoor activities.
